From ambition to a funded programme, the roadmap their Board approved.

A housing association of around 8,000 homes knew where it wanted to get to but had no route its Board could fund. An architect-led assessment by our team became the sequenced plan the Board approved; over thirty-six months the programme stayed on the plan and the budget set at assessment. We worked alongside their team and ensured the capability to run it stayed in-house.

The results so far

What the programme delivered, so far.

8 weeks

To a secure, governed cloud foundation in their own Microsoft Azure environment.

12 weeks

To a single trusted source of data, connected to their systems and in daily use.

On budget

Delivered against the budget set at assessment, across a three-year programme.

40+

Staff training to become data and AI enabled, and self-sufficient with their technology.

Where they started

Ambition, but no route to funding or delivery.

A housing association of around 8,000 homes knew what it wanted: a single view of the customer, a single view of the home they could trust, and their team with the right skills across technology, data and AI. Core systems at the end of their life across the organisation. Server hardware due for replacement. Two earlier pieces of strategy work had described the destination — neither had produced a sequence or a cost the Board could commit to.

Why this way

Why this way

An assessment written by architects is not a strategy deck. It lifts the strategy off the page, validates it and converts it into a costed delivery sequence the Board can get behind.

We know there are competing priorities across the organisation, and moving quickly and safely is essential. Foundations came before AI: a secure, governed cloud environment in eight weeks, a single trusted source of data in twelve, and more than twenty ageing systems replaced or moved without interrupting service. That is what made everything after it safer and more efficient to build.

Developing internal capability was critical to building a future-fit organisation, so they can take full advantage of modern systems, data and AI, with their own team in place to run it today.

We built trust and deep relationships through a plan and budget that held, and a delivery and leadership team that stayed consistent throughout.

“Two earlier pieces of strategy work told us where we wanted to be. The detailed discovery completed by the Scout team was the first thing that told us the order, what it would cost and what we could stop spending on, and the Board funded the programme on that basis. Over three years the plan and the number have held, and the people running the platform are ours.”
